The Challenge: Get a community involved in responses to climate change
SciArt Solution: Use humour and visuals to create a positive message of hope
With a PhD in visual science communication, Dr Joanna Henley leads our team and is an expert in communicating scientific, or complex, messages in simple and engaging visual ways. By creating a dialogue, through developing interactive and inclusive tools, we believe that we can overcome a lack of trust in science. By making information appropriate we can inspire even the most remote audience to engage in scientific subjects.
Our experience of the environment sector tells us that environmental issues are often misunderstood by the public and that factual information can often be off-putting. Indeed, current and complex environmental issues such as climate change and sustainability, can often be frightening and overwhelming. We have a range of solutions to breakdown these barriers by creating positive messages.
With our background in marine resource management we can offer a bespoke service for marine related organizations and industries. We regularly work with our clients on themes such as sea level rise, coastal erosion, marine renewables, oceanography and marine ecology.
One of our favourite projects…
Climate Change leaflet for children - Aberdeen University
We have created two climate change leaflets for this academic client – one for adults and one for children. Each presents the issues surrounding coastal adaptation to climate change using simple text, visualization and comic strip humour.
